What the Hotel Zone really is

The Hotel Zone is a long, narrow hotel strip between the Caribbean Sea and Nichupté Lagoon. It is not one small neighbourhood: the feel changes markedly between the northern, central and southern sections.

For many first-time visitors it is the simplest base. Beach, reception, restaurants and organised outings are close together, but choose by exact location rather than a hotel photo alone.

Choose the section for your holiday rhythm

Northern areas can feel closer to ferries, downtown and the lagoon. Central areas can suit restaurant, shopping and evening plans. Southern areas place you closer to open beaches, Playa Delfines and El Rey.

No section is automatically best. Children, mobility, restaurant plans and outing frequency should drive the decision.

Compare hotels usefully

Start with area and beach, then room type and meal plan. Check actual walking distances and what is included for your dates.

Read current conditions directly with the hotel or organiser; facilities and beach conditions can change.

Before choosing a Hotel Zone hotel

  • Place the hotel on a map
  • Check the beach outside the hotel
  • Compare travel times for your plans
  • Read current room and meal terms
